What a nerd

I am a nerd. Really. I was just sitting here thinking how neat it is that my scrap closet is neat & tidy & clean & my laptop is in here where it belongs & I'm looking at the internet in an orderly fashion & I thought, this is fun. I'm a nerd & I'm weird. So here are 10 things about me that make me a nerd: 1. The patches on my comforter HAVE to be perfectly lined up, every morning. And if someone messes it up, I do it again. 2. I can't stand having any little bit of trash laying around in my car. There might be dirt in there, but no trash. 3. I always carry chapstick in that little pocket on the right side of your jeans. Unless of course there isn't one, than I have a back up in my purse. 4. I love symmetry. I like houses that have the same number of windows either side of a door or between the first & second floor. 5. I like to work on our budget. I mean, figuring numbers & using a calculator & a pencil & eraser is so nice. =) 6. When hubby helps me move something or makes something for me, he makes sure that I think it is lined up good enough b/c he knows something like that would bug me every time I looked at it. 7. I fill my dishwasher the same way every time. If someone else fills it up & they're not looking, I might change it. 8. I love to read so when I had the chance to get books for free, I took a lot. I mean, A LOT. And I don't have anywhere to put them. Yet. 9. I make lists constantly. I don't always do them but it feels good to have everything written down in an orderly fashion so I can see what's up. 10. I like classical music, which is NOT the same as elevator music. The real stuff is way better. (this one is a stretch but my brain is shutting down & I couldn't think of anything else!) I'd love to hear the reasons you think you're a nerd, or if you're not, reasons why you'd never be caught doing anything nerdy! Don't be afraid to leave a comment! My week at home was very productive. The attic has been bugging me for a VERY long time and is now mostly neat & orderly. Especially b/c of the "shelves" my dad made for me because it gives me so much more room. Monday I start working 5 days a week for a little while. Since there is work to do now & there might not be later & the fact that we are in the middle of our Financial Peace University & we're motivated, and the fact that my bosses agreed to let me do it =) I'm going to take advantage of it! But I have to admit I'm also not looking forward to it for the simple fact of being afraid I won't be able to keep up with everything at home. I've been doing so well, I don't want to get back into the bad habits I've had before. I need to be reminded (& I am) over & over that I am good enough for God right now. No amount of my pitiful trying will make Him love me more because He already loves me perfectly, I just need to remember that & accept it.

Not Me! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week I am not super excited to have the ENTIRE week off! I am not going to work like crazy to get my attic organized & garage sale items selected. This is not fun to me! But I am not slightly annoyed when #2 is up there helping....he just is not always right where I want to be. Although his singing doesn't help the task more fun. #2 is not in love with watermelon gum & certainly doesn't chew it like a cow. That would be sorta rude & we definitely have manners at our house! And he didn't lose his last piece & know where it came out and then later not see it at the bottom of his juice bottle. That's so not gross! #1 & I did not get on the subject of heaven last night during bedtime & he did not start crying when he realized his beloved stuffed puppy would be joining him there. And he certainly didn't surprise me when he told me that his daddy's tractor collection would be going either.

"New" laptop!

Remember this? Yeah, a rock closed in my laptop by some little boy.
I thought for sure the computer was junk or it would cost as much as a new computer to fix it. I decided to search on the internet before I junked it & I found that it seemed pretty simple to fix it myself, as long as only the screen was affected. (and thank goodness it WAS just the screen) However, new screens cost probably $300 or more & it wasn't in the budget just now. But then I found a used screen exactly what I needed for $180. I ordered it & was waiting on pins & needles to get it, afraid that I wasted $$. Got it in the mail today, took the old screen out, put the new one in & WALA!!!

I fixed my own computer for very little money so this is a reminder to do a little research before you chalk something up to junk.

Updates & organization!

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted anything really interesting; I've noticed that that is totally par with everything about my life. I'll be really good at getting stuff done, with efficiency even, & then the next week it's like I've got ADD & can't convince myself to just do something, anything! LOL.
Our bathroom is complete, well, mostly anyway. There is a panel of beadboard missing on the one wall but I got tired of waiting for it & I really want to let you all see what the finished bathroom looks like. Here is a little photo tour:
I am not going to be working this next week because my parents will be on a cruise (just remember you have to come back to this stinky winter weather!) and my goal for the week is to get the attic organized & all the garage sale stuff together. Which means today I am going to clean & organize my scrapbook closet! (I'm looking for potential garage sale stuff in there) But, it feels like it is one of those ADD weeks so who knows! Here is what my closet looks like before....
Right side of my closet-paper (not sure I can part with any of my paper, it might have to be pried out of my hands!)
Left side of closet - stickers & stamps (should get some stuff out of there)
One drawer of the extra storage beside my closet - there are lots of pictures, mementos & cameras in there. Not sure much will be leaving though.
And in case you were wondering what that black thing on the top of the drawer is, (and I know you're just dying to!) well, what can I say?.......
I live in house with 2 boys & their dad who thinks that sort of thing is hilarious. But I have to admit, it is pretty darn funny when they sneak up behind & let it loose. *SIGH* =)
I hope to post some after pictures of my scrap closet soon. The day got away from me so I'm not quite done but it is looking better in there! You can actually see the desktop. =)

Not Me! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week. I did not just about faint when I realized hubby was cleaning & organizing the basement this past weekend & I am not still shocked that he's still at it! I am not totally sick of sick kids! It's either runny noses or ear infections. Ugh! I did not just have to cancel a girls' outing because of above. It does not make me sick! =) I really didn't have a pretty boring week. I don't really like the funny ones, you know? And I probably won't finish this post & remember something funny that actually didn't happen instead. My brain has not totally gone on vacation. Wait. It's not been on vacation a long time....

Not Me! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week. I did not attempt to cut our boys' hair again (after a couple of semi-failed attempts this past summer) in order to save a few bucks. # 2's golden locks aren't ok but # 1's aren't too short in the front. And I definitely would never put my girly-smelling goop in his hair to try & make it look like I wanted it that way. Nope! Not me! Hubby & I are not super excited about our progress in Financial Peace University. And we certainly don't have fun every Monday night with our new friends either! I so did not have fun with my bestest girlfriend on Saturday as we shopped for ideas for her brand-new house. Seriuosly, it was not at all fun!
